The Fund for Wellesley accepts grant proposals from charitable organizations and Town departments that serve the Wellesley community, particularly those that seek to enhance the ability of all Wellesley residents to more fully participate in the community.

The Fund actively seeks new ideas, approaches and collaborations. It welcomes applications from those who bring innovative thinking to big issues and small ones.

The Fund for Wellesley provides three opportunities for grant funding:

Annual Competitive Grant Program

Early February – Mid-March, annually

The Fund for Wellesley strongly encourages applicants to apply for funding during the competitive grant cycle, which opens annually in early February and closes in mid-March. This program provides opportunities for applicants to meet with board members to learn about the Fund’s annual priorities and to consider how the applicant’s project might fit within that context.

To learn more about the Annual Competitive Grant Program, see here.

Off-Cycle Grant Program

Rolling basis April – November, annually

As described above, the Fund for Wellesley strongly encourages applicants to apply during the competitive grant cycle whenever possible. However, grant applications may be submitted outside the competitive grant cycle where the circumstances indicate that applying through the competitive grant cycle would not be practical.  Please note that funding for off-cycle grants is limited each year, based on funds remaining after the completion of the competitive grant cycle.

To inquire about the availability of off-cycle grants, please send an email to info@thefundforwellesley.org.

The Fund for Wellesley Youth Development Grant Program (Youth In Philanthropy)

Early August – Late September, annually

The Fund for Wellesley is pleased to provide funding to the Foundation for MetroWest to administer the Wellesley Youth in Philanthropy program. Through this program, grants of up to $5,000 are awarded by the participants to youth-serving nonprofits in Wellesley and nearby towns. Grant applications are due by the end of September for selection and distribution the following Spring.
