The Wellesley Council on Aging is pleased to welcome Lois Camberg, Project Coordinator for the Volunteer Drivers Program. Thanks to the generous support of The Fund for Wellesley (www.fundforwellesley.org), this program launched on Feb. 28, 2011, and will run as a pilot for a period of six months. Currently, the Council on Aging has secured approximately 25 volunteer drivers. All ride requests and/or individuals interested in becoming a volunteer driver must call 508-479-9301 —this is a designated phone number for this program only OR email: Drive@wellesleyma.gov. Rides will be available within Wellesley and the communities surrounding Wellesley. At this time, rides to and from Boston will not be provided. Ride requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
The Council on Aging staff and Board of Directors would like to extend special thanks to the members of the “Volunteer Drivers Committee” for their commitment to this project — members are: Barbara Peacock-Coady, Shirley Quinn, Penny Lawrence, Susan Rosefsky, and Gayle Thieme.
